At Jidoji Temple you can experience "Nigiri Botoke" ("Squeezed Buddha") by molding clay in one hand. A friendly priest of this temple will kindly teach you how to make it. You can experience and enjoy making your own original "Buddha".

This tour takes you to the homes of three famous writers' including Shiga Naoya, Nakamura Kenkichi, and Hayashi Fumiko. Their roots are deeply ingrained in Onomichi. The view from the tourist spot is another charm of this tour. You will be able to witness the magnificent view of Onomichi-waterway.

This is a small art museum made in a remodeled vacant old house. About 3,000 Maneki Neko (Beckoning Cats) that have been collected from the entire country are on display. An idol cat called "Koume-chan" is particularly adorable.

The ropeway is an easy and comfortable way to go up to Senkoji Temple & Park. Feel free to stop and ask the kind citizens of the town when you have lost your way.

The symbol of Onomichi is Senkoji Temple & Park. You can thoroughly enjoy all 4 seasons in this park. The cherry blossoms that unfold here have been chosen one of the "Top 100 Sites of Beautiful Cherry Blossoms" and cover most of the park in spring. An equally beautiful "Onomichi Chrysanthemum Exhibition" is held in autumn. Enjoy the superb view from the top.

Many tourists enjoy taking pictures at the entrance of this pavilion where an original cinema projector stands. Another is the newly opened museum in the style of a "Classical Bank Building" which was remodeled and displays a retrospective atmosphere. It is now the "Onomichi Historical Museum".

It is believed that Shotokutaishi (Prince Shotoku) founded this temple in 616. It is said that this temple was built in order to pray for the victory of war at the times of Ashikaga Takauji's Kyushu Repression and the War of Minatogawa.

A steady flow ferry boats come and go on "Onomichi-waterway" between Onomichi and Mukaishima. It will take 5 minutes going one way. Why don't you try a small voyage?
